Gstoder from Seetal

Closed
Like the Preber, the Gstoder is a border mountain between Styria and the Salzburger Land.
Due to its location directly opposite the main ridge, particularly comprehensive insights into the southern slope of the Niedere Tauern are possible. The fascinating view as well as a moderate ascent height and low skiing difficulties make the Gstoder a popular and worthwhile tour destination. Nevertheless, this beautiful midwinter ski mountain is still one of the insider tips.

More information

East: From Vienna on the A 2 and S 6 to Leoben and St. Michael i. d. E., continue on the S 36 to Judenburg and on the B 96 to Murau. From Murau via Ranten to Krakow.

West, North: From Bregenz/Innsbruck via the A 12, A 93 and A 8 to Salzburg. From Salzburg on the A 10 to St. Michael im Lungau. From here on the B 96 to Tamsweg and further towards Murau via Sauerfeld to Krakow.

South: From Klagenfurt on the B 83 to Scheifling. Then take the B 96 to Murau and on to Krakow.

B96 to Seetal. Immediately after the town sign (past the elementary school), turn right immediately before a bridge and through the settlement to the foot of the mountain. Here the small mountain road turns to the right and begins to climb significantly - and here you will also find a small cleared parking space to the right of the road.

From the elementary school in Seetal on a well-marked and signposted forest road to the Dorferhütte. (Ascent: approx. 900 m above sea level, 2-3 hours).

Descent and ascent or, if conditions are good, from the western ridge directly back to the Dorferhütte and along the forest roads to the starting point.

Easy ski tour with hardly any risk of avalanches, which mainly relies on its scenic charm. The route leads for a long time through the forest, on a forest road, then you reach a very idyllic alpine settlement. Then it goes easily over a beautiful path and over a free ridge to the summit. From a skiing perspective, only the upper half of the tour is interesting, as the descent runs along the forest road at the bottom. Also suitable as a snowshoe tour.

With the BusBahnBim app from the interconnected line, timetable information is easier than ever before: all bus, train and tram connections in Austria can be queried by entering locations and/or addresses, stops or important points. The app is available as a free app for smartphones (Android, iOS) - on Google Play and in the App Store.
