National park Gesäuse

Admont

Part, wild, unique - the Gesäuse not only boasts breathtaking views and raging rivers, its flora and fauna are also unique in many respects. The peaks of the Hochtor chain tower like the spikes of a crown over this wonder of nature, the Gesäuse. There are around 200 endemic species here, plants and insects that exist exclusively in this microcosm. A marvel of nature that should be marveled at and protected in equal measure, the Gesäuse was declared a national park in October 2002.

The Enns roars and rushes its way through the steep rock faces - Gesäuse, the name says it all. A multitude of rare plants and insects can be found here, making the Gesäuse a very special place and Austria's youngest national park. Whether you get to know this natural jewel via one of the well-signposted hiking trails or one of the national park's educational offers, the wealth of the Gesäuse is worth every excursion - a place you will want to return to again and again.

National park pavillion Gstatterboden

In the middle of the national park is a true oasis in the middle of the wilderness: the Weidendom has taken up residence here. The living structure in the national park is beautiful to look at and the offerings in the adventure center are quite something.

Groups & schools

The National Park offers a varied program for schoolchildren of all ages and a diverse excursion destination for groups.
