Theatre - Flea in the ear
"Flea in the Ear", a masterful comedy by Georges Feydeau, takes the audience into a world full of misunderstandings and turbulent scenes. Madame Chandebise has a flea planted in her ear that her husband might be unfaithful, whereupon she stages a chaotic test of fidelity in the hotel "Zum flauschigen Miezekätzchen". The Murau theater ensemble presents this comedy of mistaken identity from 10 - 12 May 2024 and from 17 - 19 May 2024 in the Murau Chamber of Labor Hall. Tickets can be pre-ordered online at www.stadttheater-murau.at/tickets
In 1907, Georges Feydeau wrote one of the most turbulent comedies of mistaken identity in theatre history with "Flea in the Ear": Anonymous letters, a jealous Spaniard, a man with a speech impediment, surprise effects at a rendezvous, braces, slaps in the face, leaps in marriage, flings out of marriage.
Feydeau's masterpiece in a new translation always has a twist in store just when it seems to have reached its peak, and as the comedy spirals to ever more absurd heights, the actors' good reputations sink into the abyss. A play that seems to have been made for the Murau Municipal Theatre and its ensemble.
