Hohentauern

In Hohentauern you are already "a little closer to heaven" at 1274 meters above sea level. But the magnificent panorama promises even more: between Bösenstein and Himmeleck, from the Hölleralm to the Paradies, you can see nature at its most beautiful at seven “heavenly locations” in Hohentauern and the Triebental.

In summer, the region offers over 20 mountains of over 2000 m with short and long hiking, cycling and mountainbiking routes for all levels of ability. You can see nature at its most beautiful at seven “heavenly locations”, such as in the clear waters of the Scheiblsee lake, while walking over the Hasensattel or along the Wasserweg with its beautiful plant- and birdlife. There are challenging mountain tours on the Triebenstein and leisurely walks on the mountain pastures of the Moaralm and Hölleralm.

From the Wichtelhütte there is a wonderful view of Hohentauern and the surrounding mountains, which are also perfect for skiing in winter. Furthermore, 13 km of trails invite you to trying classic and skating-style cross-country skiing in winter. Those who enjoy a sporting challenge can try ski mountaineering or snow-shoe hiking, while those who prefer a more leisurely pace can walk along perfectly prepared winter hiking trails. After a high-speed sledding session or a leisurely round of Austrian curling you can treat yourself to heavenly delights at one of the many culinary establishments. And for all those who discover our “7 heavenly locations”, there is another heavenly surprise.
