Krakau

Nestled between the Sölk Pass and the Preber is the hiking region of Krakau, a member of Austria’s hiking village association. With countless peaks, mountain lakes, Alpine pastures and huts, as well as impressive flora and fauna, Krakau is considered an inside tip for hiking holidays in Austria.

Krakau can look back on a long and interesting history and this history can often be seen in its loving cultivation of its traditions. Krakau’s status as a climatic spa town, an award-winning hiking and mountaineering village, as well as a stage stop on the From Glacier to Vine Hiking Trail makes it the perfect location for a relaxing holiday with a range of activities. 150 km of hiking trails from 1,100 m to 2,740 m above sea level provide a unique experience in combination of nature on relaxing walks and demanding mountain circuits. We also recommend a visit to Günster waterfall, the highest in Styria.

Of course, you can also go snowboarding or skiing. Families, beginners and experienced skiers will all find challenges at the Tockneralm. Skischule Krakau (Krakau Ski School) offers a complete package of ski courses, hire and additional services. The resort also offers trails with the cross-country skiing seal of quality and challenging ski-touring. You will be rewarded with a unique backdrop. There is also a wide variety of other winter activities including winter hiking, snow-shoe hiking, sledding, ice skating and Austrian curling.
