Deutschlandsberg

A special attraction is one of the footpaths to the castle Deutschlandsberg through the hermitage.

In 1814, the Klausenanlage was created on the Laßnitz in the Felstal, the exit of the river from the highlands into the plain. Moritz Count Fries, a wealthy banker who acquired the rule of Landsberg in 1811, had his forester, Sebastian Hofer, create a romantic forest path with a hermitage.
Marble panels in the rock walls proclaim the events of the day.

Count Fries had tremendous amounts of money, which he spent according to his mood. His life served Ferdinand Raimund as a model for his work "The spendthrift".

Today the Klause is a Natura 2000 area and offers unique insight into the fauna and flora of the region.
